Planning checklist

The Wedding Planning Checklist That Keeps You on Track.

A staged plan for your engagement — built around your wedding date — so you always know what is done, what is next and what can wait.

How it works

A checklist that knows your date

Most to-do lists drift because they have no relationship with time. WedPlan anchors every task to your wedding date.

Built from your date

When you add your wedding date, WedPlan creates a starter checklist with sensible due dates for each task, staged from twelve months out to the final week.

Yours to reshape

Add your own tasks, set any due date by hand, and mark anything that does not apply to your day — the checklist is a starting point, not a rulebook.

Priorities and overdue flags

Each task carries a priority, so the important things surface first, and anything past its due date is flagged until it is done or rescheduled.

Dates that keep up with you

If your date moves, the calculated due dates move with it — you never inherit a stale plan.

A useful starting point

A sample wedding planning checklist by stage

Here is the shape of a well-planned engagement, from the first decisions to the last. Yours will differ — that is what makes it yours.

12 months or more before

The foundation year
  • Agree your priorities as a couple — what kind of day matters most to you both.
  • Set the overall budget and roughly how it divides between venue, food, photos and everything else.
  • Research venues and book the one you love — Saturdays go first.
  • Estimate your guest numbers before committing to the venue capacity.

9–12 months before

The big bookings
  • Arrange the ceremony — the legal bits have their own waiting periods.
  • Book your caterer, photographer and videographer.
  • Book music and entertainment for the evening.

6–9 months before

The details take shape
  • Choose wedding outfits and book alterations early.
  • Book flowers and styling.
  • Choose and order the rings.

3–6 months before

Guests and logistics
  • Order and send invitations.
  • Arrange guest accommodation and transport.
  • Book hair and makeup, with a trial if you can.

The final three months

Confirmations
  • Confirm menu choices with your caterer.
  • Chase outstanding RSVPs and firm up numbers.
  • Plan your seating arrangements.

The final month

Settle and rehearse
  • Confirm every supplier booking in writing.
  • Settle final payments so nothing chases you in the last week.
  • Finalise the wedding-day schedule and share it with everyone involved.

The final week

Breathe
  • Prepare the emergency essentials kit — plasters, painkillers, spare tights, phone charger.
  • Do a final walkthrough of the running order with anyone helping on the day.
  • Confirm arrival times with the venue and key suppliers.

This stage guide is free advice — the app does the tracking for you

In WedPlan these tasks arrive with their own due dates, priorities and progress, generated from your wedding date and edited as freely as you like. Nothing above is locked behind the £99 — the app is what keeps it all moving.

Why staged checklists work

Engagements go wrong in predictable ways. A staged list prevents the predictable ones.

The right thing at the right time

  • Venues and key suppliers book months ahead — early tasks protect your first choices.
  • Late tasks stay late: ordering invitations now would just lose a year of replies.

Progress you can feel

  • Watching tasks complete keeps the plan reassuring rather than overwhelming.
  • Overdue flags mean nothing slips quietly — you see it while it is still fixable.
  • A checklist your partner can see means the load is shared, not duplicated.

Questions

Anything else you would like to know, you can see for yourself in the demo.

Is the sample checklist above what I get in the app?

It is a simplified version of it. WedPlan generates a staged checklist from your wedding date with specific due dates, priorities and categories, and you can add, edit, complete or dismiss any task.

What if we are planning in less than a year?

Tasks whose time has already passed simply show as overdue or can be marked not applicable — the checklist adapts to the time you actually have.

Can we add tasks the template does not think of?

Yes, add anything with its own category, priority and due date. The starter list is a base to build on.

Does the checklist connect to the rest of the app?

Yes. Tasks can link to the suppliers and budget items they relate to, so "confirm the caterer" sits next to the caterer's record and its balance.
