How to use the stages
Timeframes are suggestions, not deadlines
Every wedding runs on its own clock. The stages below reflect a common pattern for a UK wedding planned over a year or so — they are flexible suggestions rather than mandatory deadlines.
If you have longer than a year
Spread the early stages out. The jobs in the first two stages — budget, guest list, venue — benefit from unhurried decisions, and popular venues and suppliers are often booked well ahead.
If you have less than a year
Do not panic. Compress the early stages into the first few weekends: agree the budget, settle the guest list, book the venue and ceremony, then move straight on to key suppliers.
